How I started writing.
I went to art college in Newcastle with great plans of becoming an illustrator but had a complete crisis of confidence seeing the artwork of others around me. It was my tutor who spotted that I could write too. So I gave that a go. Fast forward a few years, and I’d won my first industry award for copywriting. I moved to London and spent many years as an advertising and direct marketing copywriter, eventually specialising in not-for-profit clients. I needed the late nights to feel ‘worth it’.
I left copywriting behind when my daughters were small. I wasn’t as great as so many other women at the balancing act of motherhood and career.
But one day, just like that, my girls were all grown up, and along came a little boy called Jack who’d lost his teddy bear…..
